Community The ASF thrives because of the individuals who contribute their time, expertise, and leadership across its global community. The ASF’s new blog series, Plus One People , aims to showcase these folks. The first installment features Jean-Baptiste (JB) Onofré, ASF Board of Directors, PMC Chair, PMC Member and Committer. At OpenSource4You (ALC Taipei) , an Apache Local Community chapter in Taiwan, mentorship is at the heart of everything they do—and it’s paying off. What started as one student contributing a first patch to Apache Mahout has turned into a full-on team effort, with students across Taiwan collaborating on quantum computing work, publishing research, and even landing speaking spots at tech conferences. Along the way, contributors have gone from beginners to committers, embracing “community over code” and building real-world experience you just don’t get in a classroom. Now, many are stepping up as mentors themselves, helping bring the next wave of contributors into the project. General attendees are invited to visit the event Registration page , where they can register for the event and also take advantage of discounted room rates at the Hilton Glasgow, this year’s venue hotel. Registration for Community Over Code Glasgow have been lowered this year, with early-bird pricing available at USD$500 until July 28, 2026, after which regular pricing of USD$600 starts. Late registration begins on September 27 at USD$750. Committers of ASF projects only pay for USD$250 at any time by using their valid apache.org email IDs to register for the conference. The ASF’s new Responsible AI Initiative is a big step in the right direction for the future of software and the Foundation. The (extremely rapidly) growing AI ecosystem is built on open source software, including a lot of ASF projects.
